I am Joy,

Being born into a poor home I would say growing up was tough. Coming from a Christian home, my parents were very strict and the rules at home had to be followed. At a very young age I had goals and knew where I want to be in future.

I am the 3rd from a family of 5. It was hard growing up as a young girl in a rural area, this is a story for another day. I had so many dreams, one of which is to be a doctor. After my senior secondary education, I proceeded to studying banking and finance in Imo state university Nigeria. It was a tough decision because there was no sponsor at that time but my precious mum stood by me.

Today I would say that this is one of the best decision I have made so far in my life.

After my university education I moved to Dubai. I worked there as an administrative officer until the year 2017 when I moved to the Netherlands. Because of the language barrier I could not find a job in the banking sector. My passion for helping others especially the sick brought me the idea of going into the health sector. In 2020 I got my Helping diploma and now I am working on ''Nursing / Social Care''. Singing, cooking and sports are my hobbies.

But what exactly has kept me strong and tall till today? Don’t worry you are in the right place. You will get to learn a lot here.

I will be writing about lifestyle, relationships, recipes, how to stay strong and positive in life, I will also be doing a little bit of blogging and much more..

Finally I believe in one thing. You will fail if only you want to.

I am Edwin,

Born and raised in a small village in the province of Groningen, The Netherlands. I grew up in a warm family with 3 children, I am the middle child.

Ever since I can remember I have been interested in technology, from electronics to motor vehicles, you just name it, I’m interested.

Already at a very young age, I liked to take apart devices to build something new. I also found computers very interesting. At elementary school, I was the computer expert and was even called in to teach and instruct the teachers and pupils in the use of the computer and later the Internet.

Unfortunately, at a young age, I didn't feel like learning subjects that didn't interest me and therefore had to switch from pre-university education to mechanic engineering. Eventually, I had to choose a subject and I opted for motor vehicles. I worked in a garage, and there I gained a lot of experience and knowledge.

After this, I followed various technical training courses and now have a managerial position at a large company where I also provide various technical training courses.

Because of my technical background, I am often asked for help by family and friends. It always gives me great satisfaction to be able to help people.

On this website, you will occasionally get tips and tricks from me on how to handle certain ''technical'' issues, or how to ''hack'' a product and therefore use it even better or save money. We call this ''hacks & tricks''.

About us,

Now that we have gotten to know each other we have learned a lot about other cultures. Together we form a wonderful mixed family and try to instill in our children the best of our cultures. The stories about Joy and her family and our passion to help people have led us to want to get involved with poor people in Nigeria especially in her village, Ukulu. We try to make a difference as far as we can here and we are starting with the people from Joy's village. Currently, we have 2 beautiful projects running in Nigeria. Our common dream is to set up and carry out many more such projects in the future. You can read all about these projects on the page "Projects".

We also have a donation campaign running, click HERE to view and possibly donate.
